ARL_community service project

I've also done community service marketing and design work for the Animal Rescue League back in 2010.  Below is a sample advertisement.  The links below is a sample media kit, and front/back brochure. Obviously, these samples are from 2010 when I volunteered there, but I think this shows how much I've grown and developed in the past two years.

FreeStore_Community Service Project (40 points)

As a double major in both graphic design and PR, I can easily utilize both skills in both fields.  FreeStore is a non-profit organization that helps families start over.  FreeStore provides household items and furniture free of charge to women when they leave Iowa's Domestic Violence Services.  The FreeStore is entirely run by volunteers.

Above, is a link to a pdf publicity plan.  Included is a brand new logo and the entire booklet design was designed by myself to hand in.  Not only did FreeStore love the new logo, plan, and marketing collaterals, but the chosen color scheme really brightened their day.

Portfolio Review 4

Another portfolio review was done by Scott B.  I used to work with him at my internship at the Schaumburg Flyers, but he is now a designer for a race track, Arlington Park.  I e-mailed him a PDF portfolio and slip, and he filled this out for me.

Portfolio Review 3

My 3rd portfolio review was with the Denver Broncos, with the Senior Marketing Manager, Sandy Young.  This was one of the most intense reviews I have experience thus far.

Portfolio Review 2

This portfolio review was done by CJ Roby, the web developer and graphic designer for Big Nut Tees, a custom t-shirt business near my hometown in IL.

Portfolio Review 1

My first portfolio review was with Iris Diaz from Clear Channel Outdoor, down in Arlington, TX.

Final Identity System

Phil McCollam_course activity notes (5 points)

Phil was an interesting character.  He was full of humor, which really caught most of the student's attention.  He really tried to get to know the Drake University students, and get us excited for the real world.  I was a little curious about the buttons he passed out.  Yes, it makes him stick out, but I thought they were a little immature and not professional.  I think he would add a totally new perspective to graphic design at Drake. I really enjoyed how he emphasized that freelance design is a huge part that some of us as designers seem to forget about since we are always so focused on school projects or work.  Overall, I think Phil would be a great asset to the Drake University design program.
